Hair Care Guide
How to wash, style, and protect your S&S Hair so it stays soft, shiny, and lasts for years.
Because your wig or bundles are no longer attached to a scalp producing natural oils, moisture has to be added back manually. With the right routine, 100% human hair lasts 1–3 years. Here's the routine we recommend.
Detangle First
Always detangle before washing. Use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers and work gently from the ends up to the roots — never rip through from the top. This prevents shedding and breakage.
Wash Gently
Wet the hair with cool or lukewarm water (never hot). Apply a sulfate-free shampoo, smoothing it downward in the direction of the hair — don't scrub in circles, which causes tangling. Rinse thoroughly.
Condition & Moisturize
Apply a moisturizing conditioner or hair mask, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends. Leave it in for 3–5 minutes, then rinse. Deep condition every few washes to keep the hair supple.
Dry the Right Way
Gently blot with a microfiber towel — never rub. Air-dry on a wig stand when possible. If you blow-dry, use low heat and a heat-protectant spray.
Style with Heat Protection
Our hair is heat-safe and can be flat-ironed or curled. Always use a heat protectant and keep tools below 400°F (200°C) to preserve shine and longevity.
Keep It Hydrated
Between washes, lightly apply a leave-in conditioner or a natural oil (argan or jojoba) to the ends to prevent dryness and frizz. A little goes a long way.
Protect It Overnight
Before bed, loosely braid or twist the hair, wrap it in a satin or silk bonnet, and sleep on a satin pillowcase. This dramatically reduces tangling and friction.
Store It Properly
When not in use, keep wigs on a wig stand to hold their shape, away from direct sunlight and heat. Store bundles flat or hung to avoid tangling.
A Few Things to Avoid
- Hot water, harsh sulfates, and alcohol-based products — they dry the hair out.
- Sleeping or swimming with the hair unprotected (chlorine and salt water cause damage).
- Over-washing — 7–10 days for daily wear is plenty. Over-washing strips moisture.
- Brushing when soaking wet, or ripping through tangles.
